Professional Statement

Dr. Lauren M. Terranova earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Communications Sciences and Disorders Honors Program from Northwestern University (NU) in Illinois. While at Northwestern University she was a Division I sabre fencer, women’s team captain, a nationally ranked fencer and competed at the NCAAs. She is also the current record holder for most career wins. After graduating college, she attended UMDNJ in Stratford, New Jersey where she received a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences and her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Terranova did her residency and served as Chief Resident at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. Given her experience as a fencer, she decided to study Sports Medicine. After residency, she completed additional training at an ACGME accredited fellowship in Sports Medicine at Mount Sinai where she was also trained in Interventional Spine Medicine.

Dr. Terranova is also fellowship trained in diagnostic and therapeutic musculoskeletal ultrasound. She contributed to a book entitled, “Atlas of Ultrasound Guided Musculoskeletal Injections.” Her fellowship also trained her in interventional fluoroscopic (X-ray) guided spinal procedures, electrodiagnostic studies (EMG), and cutting-edge treatments such as Platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) injections.

She is a specialist with dual board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. Dr. Terranova is dedicated to the conservative treatment of musculoskeletal injuries, such as: joint pain, ligament injury, arthritis, low back pain, sciatica, radiculopathy, bursitis, tendinopathy, nerve entrapments, trigger fingers, plantar fasciitis, muscle strain, and many other conditions. She believes in a holistic approach and uses conservative measures to restore function, remove pain, and improve the quality of life of her patients.

Dr. Terranova is a native of New Jersey. Outside of work she enjoys fencing, running, playing tennis, singing, cooking, and spending time with her loving family.
